GSA Alumni Association Gala Reunion 2024: A Spectacular Journey Down Memory Lane
Excitement is in the air as we proudly announce the grand event of the year – the Guyana School of Agriculture (GSA) Alumni Association (AA) Gala Reunion 2024!
It’s time to mark your calendars for an unforgettable gathering that will bring together the elements of our shared past and weave a tapestry of memories to cherish in the future.
Date and Venue:
The reunion will take place between July 30th and August 4th, 2024. The main venue shall be the GSA, Mon Repos, rekindling the spirit of our alma mater, evoking nostalgia and promising celebration.
Highlights of the Week:
Day 1 – Welcome Cocktail Reception: Plant Science Building, GSA, Mon Repos.
The festivities will kick off with a lively cocktail reception, providing the perfect opportunity for everyone to reconnect, share stories, and renew or make new connections. Whether you graduated recently or many years ago, this is the chance to mingle with fellow alumni and renew or forge new bonds.
Day 2 – Technical Session and Networking: Plant Science Building, GSA, Mon Repos.
Structured, moderated conversation that brings together multiple experts and stakeholders to explore topics of interest in a hybrid environment (live and online). The panelists will share their perspectives and subsequently engage the audience in lively discourse.
Day 3 – Dinner & Dance: Georgetown Club, Georgetown.
We have planned a sumptuous dinner that features a delightful array of our Guyanese cuisine. Relish the company of old friends as you dine in the splendid ambiance of the Georgetown Club.
Dinner will be followed by a dance with music from a DJ playing recordings that will take you back to memorable moments of your GSA journey. There will be surprise giveaways during the night. It promises to be an evening to celebrate our shared successes, challenges, and growth.
Day 4 – Tours of Agricultural Institutions & Establishments
Visits will be organized to agricultural places of interest, such as crop farms, livestock farms, agro-processing facilities, and institutions for agricultural research, extension, and marketing.
Day 5 – Fun Day and Barbeque: GDF Grounds, Camp Ayangana, Georgetown.
Traditional GSA Sports Day events such as lime and spoon, sack race, needle and thread, buns, and watermelon eating competition, cross country race, late for farm, tug-o-war, etc., are among the events planned for this occasion.
Day 6 – Tourism.
The reunion officially comes to an end on Day 5. Day 6 will accommodate those alumni who would like to engage in tours around the country organized by third parties and take advantage of possible group rate pricing.

Greetings everyone. I encountered a few of my colleagues after graduating in 1978 but unfortunately didn’t even realize that a GSA alumni existed until today. I would have loved to meet many of you but it’s a bit late to schedule this reunion. Best wishes and I’ll appreciate any online part of the program so that I can follow or even share with you. I can share further information once contact is established. Congratulations and success to all. Samuel Belmar PhD
